A glimpse at our facilities
For 3 weeks, they are captivated by our jam-packed schedule which includes daily beach sessions, sports, art, crafts, game shows, swimming and excursions, interwoven by world-class learning initiatives from STL, focusing on literature, history, prayer, the Talmud and more, all from an in-depth philosophical perspective. All the while enjoying comfortable accommodation and surrounding of meaningful, soulful Judaism.
As of 2017, over 150 souls experienced a YEKA-style utopia.
As the average child in Ukraine yearns to go to the seaside for the summer, YEKA gives them the chance to fulfill that fantasy in facilities that any person would envy.
Another amazing feature of YEKAboys is our Bris program. Many children come to camp knowing they will get a Bris, not having the ability in their village. Our Certified Mohel who is also one of the top surgeons in Ukraine, last year performed 5 Brissim (out of 16 who did not yet have one). During camp, some children decide with the permission of their parents to have a Bris Milah as well.
Out of love for their counselors (and because they think its the coolest Jewish name out there) many campers take their counselors name as their Jewish name. A lot of our campers only respond to their new names.
Being the father/mother/brother/best friend doesn't end with camp. Keep In Touch is how we refer to basically calling/emailing/facebooking our campers throughout the tough cold school year. In the words of a Facebook post of one counselor after calling a few first time campers, "Just called some kids, here was the typical beginning of the conversation: 'Shneur where are you calling from?' - 'America' - 'America!? Klass'!! (really cool - in Russian)."
KEEP IN TOUCH
Following camp, many children continue on to different Yeka affiliate Yeshivas/boys homes across the country where they dorm and receive a full Jewish and Secular education. Parents choose to send their children to these institutions to give their children a higher standard of living and a better education.
After braving a cold eastern European winter visiting over 15 schools in 9 different cities, our staff pull off an electrifying camp in the spirit of the Chanukah. Currently located at Olympic Village in kiev, through roughly 12 days, the action-packed itinerary includes inspirational Farbrengens, exciting winter activities and action-packed trips all infused with an aura of Jewish pride.
Initiated cooperatively with STL, camp starts as we break the ice. As holiday preparations begin and the search for chametz heads underway, we move into the Seders, continuing through Chol-Hamoed excursions and afterward the Moshiach feast with uplifting spirituality all-throughout. All this gives the opportunity for the children to have a joyous and kosher Passover.
With professional learning classes pertaining to the holiday and Jewish philosophy, our Passover camp is an unforgettable initiative which leaves the children with a superior knowledge and appreciation for Jewish tradition and holidays.
